Hi! I'm Hannah.

Hannah Hopkins sits in front of a bookshelf. She's smiling, with her head resting on her hand. She's wearing a green shawl and has long brown hair.

I'm a PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Rhetoric & Writing. My research interests focus on the stories we tell around, about, and with data. I engage data centers around the United States to interrogate the rhetorics of cloud computing and labor situated in place. I also design accessible, meaningful print and web content for creative individuals and organizations like The Georgia Feminist

I hold a dual MA English & MS Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. For three years during that time, I served a teaching and research assistant at UT Austin, working with postsecondary learners and collaborating with interdisciplinary research communities. I also spent two years as an instructional designer with Campus and Community Engagement at Texas Performing Arts.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2016 with degrees in English and English Education. While I was there, I co-founded a student activist organization and online publication, designed for TEDxUGA, and created for the stage. From August 2016 to May 2017, I taught high school Theatre and English Language Arts, learning with students as they made sense of the media and performance landscapes around them.

All this to say: I'm excited about good stories and how we use technology to tell them.
