The Chicken Sandwich Wars website was technically created as part of a graduate-level Rhetoric class assignment, but it was mostly just me having a lot of fun diving deep into how Popeye’s created and sustained their new spicy chicken sandwich’s presence online.

I wrote about multimedia advertising around the sandwich, collected evidence of engagement with the sandwich and viral campaigns in and around November 2019, and tried to interview an employee of a Popeye’s in Austin, Texas. If you’re wondering: it took me two tries and over an hour in line, but I did get a sandwich.
